Whisalert is a simple product that provides a valuable service to you, your boat
and our environment. Following a few simple tips will help you operate Whisalert
better.
When fueling your boat, always have contact between the boat and the nozzle.
When fueling your boat, always have the nozzle inserted fully into your boat’s
fuel tank.
Fueling a boat is not a race!
After installing Whisalert, when fueling your boat, always use the fuel pump at
full speed to activate the whistle, then slow your pump speed down and listen
for a lower tone to the whistle. This will give you more reaction time between
filling the tank and potential spills.
The higher the pitch of the whistle, the faster the fueling speed. Thus, the
less time you will have to react and stop fueling before a spill occurs.
Inspect your fuel system every year. Look for cracked fill and vent lines,
rusted clamps, damaged fittings. Over 200 boats are destroyed and lives are lost
every year due to explosions and/or fires on boats due to a fuel system
malfunction. Don’t become a statistic!
Before installing Whisalert, blow into the product lightly to confirm the
whistle mechanism is functioning properly.
Know your boat’s fuel tank size. Know how much fuel you need when fueling. For
example, you think you need 30 gallons. Be ready during the last 1/3 of the
amount of fuel you think you need. You may only need 24 gallons.
Whisalert is as affective as the boat operater’s knowledge. Be aware!
ALERT! High Speed Pumps can back up the fill, especially when fueling with diesel. Remember to pump slower!
